Jared Jonathan Luna is a dance thinker and artist based in the Philippines. They are an alumnus of UP Streetdance Club and former dancer of Daloy Dance Company. Jared is interested in vernacular movement vocabularies in urban spaces. Their curiosity stems from an understanding of culture as a web of meanings and a political process of meaning making. Since becoming an independent artist in 2017 Jared has performed solo and collaborative projects in Manila, Hungary, Hong Kong and Japan. Their most recent solo They [a singularity] • was awarded jury prize in Hong Kong International Choreography Festival 2019. They were also one of the recipients of the AET Koreograpiya Award 2020.
Jared holds an International Master in Dance Anthropology and Ethnochoreology and is currently a part time faculty member of the Department of Anthropology in UP Diliman, and the performing arts faculty in Guang Ming College.
Jared likes drinking warm green tea, especially from a medium sized soup bowl.
